The Burmese is a compact, muscular cat with a smooth, silky short coat that gleams in the light. It is an extremely affectionate and people-oriented breed often compared to a dog in its loyalty. The Burmese will want to be involved in everything you do and is never far away. The breed is loving in a soft, non-intrusive way. It is well suited to families and thrives well with other cats.

🏥 Health

The Burmese can be predisposed to skull deformities when breeding Burmese × Burmese (known as 'Burmese head defect'), HCM and diabetes mellitus. Regular health checks and a moderate diet are important. Choose breeders with health programmes.

✂️ Care & grooming

The short coat is very easy to maintain – a quick brush or hand massage once a week keeps it glossy. The Burmese is active and needs daily play and contact. Cannot tolerate being alone for long and thrives best with company.
