Temperament & personality
The Ragdoll is a large, gentle breed known for its relaxed nature and tendency to go limp when lifted – hence the name. It is one of the most people-oriented cat breeds and will often follow its owner around like a loyal dog. The Ragdoll is ideal for families and is rarely aggressive. It is blue-eyed, semi-longhaired and comes in three patterns: colourpoint, mitted and bicolour.
🏥 Health
Ragdoll is predisposed to HCM and bladder stones (calcium oxalate). DNA testing and regular health checks are important. The breed is sufficiently inbred that many breeders now expand the gene pool. Always choose breeders with a documented health programme.
✂️ Care & grooming
The Ragdoll's coat is soft and silky and rarely mats. Light brushing once a week is usually sufficient. The breed is calm and thrives as an indoor cat. It is not particularly active but enjoys interactive play and cuddles.
