The Russian Blue is an elegant and reserved breed with a distinctive blue-grey double coat that gives a silky sheen. It is known for its emerald green eyes and calm, observant personality. The Russian Blue is often shy with strangers, but extremely loyal and loving with its family. It is a quiet, understated cat that suits calm homes. The breed also produces little Fel d1 protein and may be better tolerated by allergy sufferers.

The Russian Blue is generally a healthy and robust breed with few known hereditary diseases. Obesity can occur and should be monitored. Dental health should be prioritised. The breed often lives very long with good care.
