Temperament & personality
The Siamese is one of the most distinctive and ancient breeds in the world, with its slender body, striking colour contrasts (colourpoint) and characteristic voice. It is extremely social and communicative – many call it 'the dog's answer in the cat world'. The Siamese loves to be involved in everything happening in the house and copes poorly with being left alone for extended periods. It suits active owners who want an interactive and engaged cat.
🏥 Health
Siamese can be predisposed to amyloidosis, heart defects and gastrointestinal diseases. Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) is known in the line. The breed lives long with proper care, but should be checked regularly. Dental health is important – tooth brushing is recommended.
✂️ Care & grooming
The short coat is very easy to maintain – weekly brushing keeps it in order. The Siamese needs a lot of mental stimulation: interactive play, fetch training and company. Not suitable for owners who are away a lot. Thrives well in pairs with another cat.
