The Turkish Angora is one of the oldest natural breeds in the world and is considered the ancestor of many modern longhaired breeds. It is slender, elegant and has a silky smooth semi-long coat without undercoat. The breed is active, intelligent and can have a dominant personality – it often likes to have the last word. The Turkish Angora is very playful and maintains its activity level well into old age. The white variety is the most well-known and prized.

🏥 Health

White Turkish Angoras with blue eyes can be deaf (Waardenburg syndrome). Testing is recommended. The breed can also be predisposed to HCM. The liver and kidneys should be monitored in older individuals.

✂️ Care & grooming

The coat is easy to maintain despite its length – it lacks undercoat and rarely mats. Brushing a couple of times a week is sufficient. The breed is active and needs stimulation and space. Tends to enjoy outdoor access.
